Bennett Valley’s history began in the early 1900s. The earliest settlers were miners and loggers, who discovered the region’s beauty and decided to make it their home. The notorious winemaker and landowner John T. Bennett in 1906 acquired the 60,000-acre property. It was then passed on to two of his sons, Arthur and Harold Bennett. With careful planning, the brothers developed the valley and supplied it with necessary resources like water and roads. In the 1930s and 1940s, the movement of families to the area continued, and by the 1950s, the Bennett family had sold their land to Sonoma County.
